Privacy and your data
The Storywire fan companion is a small, invite-only pilot. It keeps only what it needs to work and to learn how fans use it, never keeps recordings of your voice, and you can delete your account at any time.
Who is responsible
Storywise runs this pilot. For questions or requests about your data, write to [contact e-mail address].
What we keep, why, and for how long
- Your sign-in
- The sign-in service keeps your e-mail address and password so you can sign in. The pilot itself stores only an anonymous id for your account, never your name or e-mail address.
- Kept: Until your account is deleted.
- Your questions and the answers
- What you type or say to the assistant and what it answers, as text, so the conversation can carry on and the answers can be improved. The pilot's team reads the questions, never with your name or e-mail address, to see what fans ask.
- Kept: 90 days after your last question in that match's chat.
- Your ratings of Storywire
- If you rate Storywire: the stars you give, your comment if you write one, where you were asked (after a match, after a voice call, on the home or from Account) and the match. The pilot's team reads the comments, never with your name or e-mail address, to improve the app.
- Kept: 90 days after you send it. The number of stars, without the comment, is kept with how you use the pilot.
- How you use the pilot
- When you open the app and from where (a notification, the installed app or a link), which matches and screens you open, the buttons you tap, how long you stay, which notifications you were sent and opened, your votes on polls and debates, and the stars you gave Storywire, without anything you wrote. It tells us what fans find useful.
- Kept: 12 months.
- Who has a live match open
- While a live match is open on your screen, the pilot may note that you are there, to show how many fans are in: only the number, from 3 upwards, never who.
- Kept: While the match is open on your screen, and no more than five minutes after.
- Your match notifications
- If you turn on notifications for a match: the matches you follow, and for each phone or browser you allow them on, its push address, where its push service delivers them, with the keys that encrypt them for that device alone.
- Kept: A followed match until you turn its notifications off, and no more than 30 days after its kick-off. A push address until you sign out on that device, its push service says it is gone (as when you block notifications or remove the app), nothing has been delivered to it for 90 days, or you delete your account.
- Checking an invite link
- Your internet address, only as a one-way hash, to limit how often an invite link can be checked.
- Kept: A few minutes.
- Records of admin actions
- Who changed a setting or a member's access, to keep the pilot secure.
- Kept: 12 months.
Your voice
When you talk to Storywire, your voice goes straight to the speech service while you speak and is not recorded. We keep only the text of what was said, like a typed question.
Who processes it
- Microsoft Azure hosts the pilot in the EU (the Netherlands and Germany).
- Microsoft Entra External ID runs the sign-in and keeps your e-mail address and password.
- Microsoft Azure OpenAI writes the answers and holds the voice conversations. It receives your question, the match information and the earlier messages of that match's chat.
- SportMonks' image service sends the club crests and competition logos straight to your phone. Like any site an image comes from, it sees your phone's internet address; nothing else about you is sent to it.
- Apple, Google, Mozilla and Microsoft deliver match notifications to phones and browsers, each to its own: Apple to iPhones and Safari, Mozilla to Firefox, Microsoft to Edge, Google to Chrome and most others. They see the device's push address and when a notification is sent, not what it says: it is encrypted on our server for that device alone.
Cookies
Only what signing in needs: a session cookie, and a security token that protects your actions; and one that remembers which match the home led with, so that it stays put between refreshes. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account removes your questions, answers and transcripts, your ratings of Storywire with their comments, the matches you follow and your devices' push addresses at once and signs you out on every device. What you did in the pilot (the usage records, your votes and the stars you gave) stays only under an anonymous id that no longer leads to you. Your sign-in account, with your e-mail address, is removed on request: write to [contact e-mail address].
